Why Q4 Is the Best Time to Rethink Your Business Model

There’s something about September that feels like the real new year for entrepreneurs. The summer haze lifts, kids go back to school, inboxes start buzzing again—and suddenly it’s Q4. The final lap of the year.

For many business owners this is the season of panic. You realise the year didn’t quite play out how you imagined back in January. That big launch didn’t land. The collaborations fell flat. The energy dipped somewhere around June and never really came back.

But here’s the truth I want you to sit with: Q4 is not the time to throw in the towel. It’s the time to get back to business…but to do it properly….the world is not the same today as it was in January, and neither are you or your ideal clients…so NOW really is a good time to get things right.

Because here’s the thing… the work you do over the next 90 days doesn’t just finish this year. It sets you up for 2026. And if your business model is creaking at the seams, if your offers feel tired, or if you’re working harder and harder for less and less return…now is exactly the time to pause, rethink, and pivot.

Too many entrepreneurs leave business model conversations for January strategy sessions. But waiting until the new year is like trying to turn a cruise ship in a canal. By then, you’re locked into patterns, financial pressures, and the weight of another year rolling in. Q4 gives you breathing space. Enough time to experiment, test, and tweak. Not so much time that you procrastinate.

Think of it as a 90-day lab for your business.

What if you used the final quarter to strip things back to basics? To ask yourself the hard questions you’ve been avoiding?

  • Which offers actually deliver profit, not just turnover?

  • Where are you wasting time, money, and energy?

  • Are your clients still buying what you’re selling—or have their needs shifted?

  • And most importantly, is the business you’ve built one that feels sustainable for you?

And here’s the one question that cannot be ignored any longer: how are you embracing emerging tech? And NO I don’t mean are you using ChatGPT to write content. What I mean is, will AI help or hinder you when it comes to reaching your business goals…will it transform your offerings and the way you do things, or will your competitors and brand new folks to the market steal your thunder because they were brave enough to embrace it?

AI isn’t a fad. It’s already transforming how businesses operate, market, and deliver value. Ignoring it is like ignoring the internet in the early 2000s…you can, but you won’t like the consequences. The entrepreneurs who thrive in the next 12 months won’t be the ones working longer hours or piling on more offers. They’ll be the ones who integrate smart tools, streamline processes, and get ahead of the curve while others cling to “the way things have always been done.”

It’s tempting to sprint through to December in a haze of Black Friday promos, end-of-year discounts, and “let’s just get it done.” But that’s not building. That’s firefighting, and you know it.

Rethinking your business model in Q4 is about playing the long game. It’s about courage. The courage to cut what’s not working. The courage to test new ideas. The courage to stop copying what everyone else is doing and actually design something profitable, scalable, and fit for the future. When you get this right, you don’t just close the year strong, you roll into January with clarity, confidence, and momentum.

That’s exactly what I’ll be digging into in my upcoming masterclass, Innovate Your Model. It’s designed to help entrepreneurs like you stop relying on outdated tactics and start building businesses that are profitable by design, not by accident—with AI and innovation built into the DNA of how you work.

So, don’t wait for 2026 to give yourself permission to pivot. Use this quarter wisely. Step back. Rethink. Rebuild.

Because Q4 isn’t about survival. It’s your opportunity to finally get back to business—on your terms, and with the tools that will shape the future.
