the real reason people are not getting started with ai

If you’d asked me six months ago what was stopping most people from using AI, I’d probably have said a lack of knowledge. Now I’m not so sure.

Over the last few weeks, I’ve been leading my 21-Day Get Shit Done with the Help of AI Challenge. Hundreds of conversations, dozens of breakthroughs and one very interesting pattern kept showing up.

It wasn’t that people were lazy or that they weren’t intelligent. It wasn’t even that they were scared of AI. Most people simply didn’t know where to start….but once they got started, things started to flow.

Sound familiar?

You open ChatGPT….or your LLM (large language model) of choice. You stare at the blinking cursor. You wonder whether you should write a prompt, build a Custom GPT, automate something, create content, organise your life or finally tackle that project you’ve been putting off for months. Five minutes later you’ve watched three YouTube videos, downloaded another AI app and somehow ended up doing exactly what you were doing before.

Nothing.

Or, maybe you are all good at using AI as a thinking partner, but thats where it stops. You spend hours going back and forth, but then don’t do anything with anything that is cocreated.

I don’t think that’s a motivation problem. I think it’s something much bigger. I call it the Action Gap. It’s the invisible space between wanting to change your life and actually taking the first meaningful step. Ironically, the more opportunities AI creates, the easier it becomes to stay stuck.

  • Too many tools.
  • Too many opinions.
  • Too many possibilities.

When everything feels important, nothing gets done.

I’ve spent more than a decade helping people lose weight, write books, grow businesses and finally achieve goals they thought were out of reach.

The people who succeeded weren’t necessarily the smartest. They weren’t the most organised. They certainly weren’t the people with the fanciest software or the best kit.

They were the people who found a way to move before they felt ready….with the resources they already have.

AI hasn’t changed that. If anything, it’s made it even more important. Because the gap between people who experiment and people who hesitate is getting wider every single day.

That’s one of the reasons I wrote my new book, Get Shit Done with the Help of AI.

Because the world needs practical ways for ordinary people to think more clearly, reduce overwhelm and start making meaningful progress. I believe technology should make life easier. It should help you create more time for the people, projects and possibilities that matter most. It shouldn’t become another thing on your to-do list.

The 21-day challenge reinforced something I’ve suspected for a while. People don’t need more information. They need more momentum. They don’t need someone to impress them with the latest AI tool. They need someone to help them take the next step with confidence.

And here’s the interesting part. The Action Gap isn’t the only gap I’ve discovered. In fact, over the past 2 years while researching, testing and writing my 5 books on AI, I’ve noticed there are a handful of invisible gaps that quietly stop people from reaching their potential in the age of AI. The Action Gap is just one of them. Once you see them, you can’t unsee them.

And once you know which gap is holding you back, everything starts to make a lot more sense.

That’s exactly what I’ll be sharing in my upcoming masterclass, Mind the Gap (REGISTER HERE)

If you’ve been telling yourself you’ll “get around to AI one day”… If you’ve been consuming more content than you’re creating…If you know you’re capable of more but can’t seem to build momentum…

This masterclass is for you.

I’m not going to bombard you with hundreds of prompts or a list of shiny new tools. Instead, I’ll help you understand what’s really getting in your way, why so many capable people feel stuck, and how to start moving forward with clarity, confidence and purpose.

The question isn’t whether AI will change the way you work and live.

The question is…

What’s stopping you from taking your first real step?

I’d love you to join me for the Mind the Gap masterclass and find out.
