You, Me & chatgpt has arrived

There’s a moment that happens when you finish writing a book like this.

Not the typing of the final sentence. Not the upload. Not even the first copy in your hands. It’s the moment you realise this isn’t just a book. It’s a line in the sand.

“You, Me & ChatGPT” arriving into the world feels exactly like that for me.

Because this isn’t a book about prompts. It’s not a guide to tools. And it’s definitely not about chasing the latest shiny thing. It’s about something far more uncomfortable and far more important.

It’s about how we think.

There’s a narrative right now that’s loud, relentless, and honestly a bit dangerous. AI is here. Everything is changing. You need to reinvent yourself. I don’t buy it. Not for a second.

Because for experienced professionals, consultants, founders, and leaders, this is not the time to throw everything out and start again.

This is the time to consolidate.

To take stock of what you already know. To recognise the depth of experience you’ve built over years, often decades. To stop undervaluing the very thing AI cannot replicate: lived, earned, applied expertise.

And then to recalibrate.

Not abandon. Not pivot. Recalibrate.

One of the biggest shifts I’ve seen working with thousands of people over the years is this. People think their value sits in what they do. But it actually sits in how they think. The unique way in which their brain pieces things together, wth context, nuance, responsibility.

AI is brilliant at speed. It’s brilliant at synthesis. It’s brilliant at giving the illusion of competence.

But it has no context. No scars. No pattern recognition built from years of getting it wrong and figuring it out anyway. No sense of consequence.

That’s your edge.

And if you don’t define it, articulate it, and design around it, you risk becoming invisible in a world that rewards clarity.

I didn’t write this for beginners. I wrote it for the people who’ve already done the work. The consultant who knows their craft inside out but is quietly wondering if clients will start choosing AI over them. The founder who has built something meaningful but can feel the ground shifting under their business model. The professional who has spent 20 plus years becoming excellent and is now questioning where that excellence fits. The expert who doesn’t want to become a content machine just to stay relevant.

If that’s you, this book will probably feel less like learning something new and more like finally having language for what you already know.

I’ve been working at the intersection of creativity, technology, and business for over three decades. Before social media was a strategy. Before online communities were a thing. Before AI became something people talked about at dinner tables. I’ve built communities from scratch. Worked with thousands of people trying to find their voice, their confidence, their commercial model. Watched wave after wave of technological change come and go.

And here’s what I know for sure.

The people who thrive are not the ones who chase every shift. They’re the ones who understand how to position themselves within it. This book is a distillation of that. Not theory. Not trends.

Experience.

Hard earned, tested, sometimes messy, but real. If there’s one idea that sits at the heart of this book, it’s this. AI doesn’t replace expertise. It exposes shallow thinking and amplifies depth. Which means the gap is about to get wider. Between those who know their edge and those who have been relying on proximity to knowledge. Between those who can think critically and those who can only execute. Between those who design how they work and those who react to whatever comes next.

Writing this book has forced me to reflect on my own edge.

Not in a performative way. Not in a look at me way.

But in a grounded, honest, this is what I know to be true way. And I think that’s what I’m most proud of. Not just that the book exists, but that it represents 30 years of showing up, figuring things out, and helping other people do the same. I am also proud that it is 100% Julie Creffield in tone, in its stories, in its frameworks, in its methodology…folks who read my books from a decade ago will feel safe, just like anyone who has met me in the last 12 months will see me in those words.

There’s a quiet confidence that comes from that. The kind that doesn’t panic when the world changes. Because it knows it can think its way through it.

If you take anything from this book, or even from this post, let it be this.

Don’t rush to reinvent yourself. Slow down long enough to recognise what’s already there. Your patterns. Your perspective. Your way of solving problems. That’s the foundation.

Then use AI not as a replacement, but as scaffolding. To extend your thinking. To build faster. To express more clearly. Not to become someone else.

But to become more you, on purpose.

If you’re ready, I’d be curious.

Where do you feel your edge is strongest right now, and where do you know you’ve been underplaying it?

Julie Creffield is an innovation strategist, author, and speaker helping experienced professionals rethink how they work in the age of AI. With over 30 years of experience spanning digital transformation, creativity, and business design, she works with consultants, founders, and organisational leaders who want to stay relevant without losing what makes them valuable.

Julie is known for her practical, no-nonsense approach to AI, cutting through hype to help people turn their knowledge into intellectual property, scalable assets, and future-facing offers. Through her programmes, talks, and writing, she challenges the idea that people need to start over, instead showing them how to build on what they already know and position themselves with clarity and confidence.

AI isn’t just changing what we do. It’s changing how we think.

In You, Me & ChatGPT, Julie Creffield cuts through the noise to help experienced professionals make sense of where they stand in the age of AI — without the pressure to start over.

Inside, you’ll explore powerful frameworks including the AI Adoption Dial, helping you understand your starting point and move forward with confidence; the Experiment Loop, a practical way to test and learn without overwhelm; and AI as Scaffolding, a smarter way to use technology to elevate your thinking rather than replace it.

You’ll also be challenged to define your unique edge — the depth of experience, perspective, and judgement that AI can’t replicate, but can amplify if you use it well.

If you’re feeling the pressure to pivot, this book offers a different path.
